We will gather information about compatibility of Google Glass with different Glasses frames. Especially for those of you who wear prescription lenses and want to use Google Glass.
Can i get google glass on my prescription glasses?
Yes! Google is working on cooperations with large glasses manufacturers and distributors to bring us Google Glass on prescription Glasses!
One of the questions we hear the most is whether there will be a prescription solution for Glass. The short answer is: yes!
The Glass design is modular, so you will be able to add frames and lenses that match your prescription. We understand how important this is and we’ve been working hard on it. Here’s a picture of +Greg Priest-Dorman, a member of the Glass team and an early pioneer in wearable computing, wearing one of the prototypes we’re testing.
We’re still perfecting the design for prescription frames. Although the frames won’t be ready for the Explorer Edition’s release, hang in there — you can expect to see them later this year.
Here some ideas and concerns of prescription glasses wearers:
#IfIHadGlass Recently started having to wear real glasses. I’m interested in wearable tech, but getting an early chance to try out Google Glass alongside my actual prescription glasses is a beta test of my own, as it were.
+Amanda Rosenberg +Sarah Price +Natalie Villalobos Are there any public photos of someone wearing +Project Glass on top of prescription glasses? Just curious how this might work (although I’ve got my contacts ready anyway, so don’t take this as a comment that I’m not ready for #ifihadglass , hehe).
#ifihadglass I would work with my dad – an optical lab engineer, and figure out how to implement prescription lenses in Google Glass.
#ifihadglass I would like to have the Google Glass so I could try to add actual prescription lenses. Being a Techie who wears glasses I want all to have access to this. I would need this to explore the options for eyewear,
#ifihadglass If I had the glass I could greet my hotel guests with their names and know their interests, food, room types…etc complete history. Also at a restaurant (food order for waiter), pharmacy (prescriptions)
#ifihadglass Patients who don’t take prescription drugs cost America hundreds of billions of dollars a year (320B+). We can improve medical outcomes by monitoring prescription drug adherence. Just imagine if you, your doctor and your caregiver knew exactly what you took, and did not take, in real time.
#ifihadglass I would try to figure out how to use them with my prescription eyeglasses.
If I had glass, I would use it as a heads-up display for my motorcycle. It should work well as a virtual speedometer and navigation tool. I have used voice navigation before, but this would keep me from having to ever take my eyes off the road. I hope it allows for prescription lenses soon!#ifihadglass
#ifihadglass I would do crazy freerunning and use the footage to make the first person views in my video games more realistic than ever…I would also probably try and after manipulate a prescription lense on the front of the glass for those like me with eye issues.
Id use them on my day to day. Above the thrills showcased at #ifihadglass, there are the daily exciting routines: The commute on the car – the meetings at work (retrieving, verifying info), capturing the user experience on some app designs, games. Gotta find some prescription lenses for #ifihadglass !
#ifihadglass I would create an application that will remind patients about their prescriptions. This will help patients taking multiple prescriptions.
#ifihadglass I would like to see if I could use Google glass to help me with my disability. I am legally blind, 20/200 vision, and assuming I could use Google glass over my prescription glasses, and assuming I can see the screen, this could be a great device for the visually impaired. I can only imagine standing in a fast food restaurant like MacDonald’s, and using Glass’s camera to zoom in on the menu over the counter so I can see it for the first time in my life. Not only that, but with the right applications, I can only imagine how it could help my kill count in games like Halo 4, which lets face it is way more important than helping me with boring stuff in real life. Glass detecting an enemy on screen for me like in Ghost Recon Future Soldier, now that is amazing.
As someone who wears glasses, I’ve always been fascinated with attaching technology to the human body and using it to enhance our lives. I would combine my prescription glasses with Google Glass and explore the next great leap in not only corrective vision, but of human evolution itself #ifihadglass
I would use Google Glass all the time #ifihadglass, if they make it for prescription lenses. Besides the people dedicated to Google and technology anyway, will use probably not take them off. I would love to try out this new Technology and do some pros and cons about it!
#ifihadglass i would try to make a version of glass to attach to someones prescription glasses so you can chose any frame you like and still enjoy glass and present it to my android dev. class for a final project at school.
#ifihadglass I would take it on my honeymoon in costa rica and film all the wildlife and use the navigation to hike in the rainforest. I would also see about putting prescription lenses on it to encourage me to wear glasses when I already should be.
#ifihadglass I would text my friends easily, keep appointments, listen to the best music and be interactive with the world around me. While I want these so much, my only concern is I have actual glasses, think Google can give me some Glass with my prescription?
#ifihadglass I would test them to see how they work for someone who wear prescription glasses.
#ifihadglass I will see the world in a amazing way like never before. I am near sided I wear prescription glasse. means I can’t see close up blurry vision. I will see everything close up like a 3D adventure. also I will feel like in a Advartar movie.. that is the coolest #ifihadglass ever.
#IfIhadGlass If I had Google Glass, I’d be unable to see the world around me, because I need vision correction and can’t do LASIK or contact lenses. Call me when you can add Google Glass to my glasses, or fit then with prescription lenses.
#IfIHadGlass I wear glasses that are not prescription. My glasses are not real, in the sense that they do not help me see, but saying they are not real is actually absurd.
#ifihadglass it would monitor medications, remind of doctor appointments, monitor pulse or other vitals, notify 911 of emergency, guide as I walk, “see” obstacles in my path, and read text out loud, like books, newspapers, stores or street signs. Glass should allow prescription lenses. I’m over 50 years old.
#ifihadglass I would have to find a way to mount it on my fancy Dolce e Gabbana prescription glasses…
#ifihadglass Record class sessions and quick search information in class. I can finally stop being the most clueless guy in class with this glass, haha. The gps system will finally make me look like the guy with an awesome sense of direction. (finally!!). Quick question, does it come with prescription lenses?
I’d fit it with prescription lenses and wear it all the time. #ifihadglass
#ifihadglass We can conquer new and exciting frontiers with my prescription glasses and your multi-tasking features! I am OK! Are you “OK, Glass.” I am moderately bold, hyper-creative and have flair for hi-tech gadgets. The pictures posted speak a language which does not require either the genius Glass or all of Google properties to decipher why I may be considered as a suitable candidate for “Glass…Expand this post »
#ifihadglass I will use it everyday. I will walk around with it, go to school with it, and drive with it. I am very unique because I was born in Israel, love sports, and have prescription glasses. If I had glass I would try my best to make it better and more successful.
#ifihadglass with my eye prescription, that would be absolutely amazing. Growing up with Star Trek and being a Trekkie since I was young, Google Glass would be one more step towards us being that mystical future. Also having a child, I want to watch it and savor every moment.
#IfIHadGlass I would work on converting them to work on my prescription glasses and show people how to do it themselves.
#ifihadglass I’d love to catch my 3 year old son in action quicker than I can fumble out my cell camera. Also I’d hope to find a way / develop ways (if it doesn’t already exist) to get the glasses to work with your own prescription glasses or sunglasses, make them waterproof for underwater adventures, make them only recognize your voice for security and to keep out annoyances like other people talking etc, make them be able to detect certain faces or environments and bring up helpful information automatically, make them compatible with headsets for casual radio or satellite listening or to have live jam band hangout sessions, even develop connections to command your everyday appliances wirelessly like your tv, computer, stereo system… seems like the possibilities are endless!
#ifihadglass It would be awesome, but I probably could not use it yet due to my prescription glasses… and school. But it would be awesome all the same.
#IfIHadGlass is an incredibly interesting concept to me, and since I’m a fledgling writer, I’m sure I could find tons of uses for it. But as a prescription glasses wearer, I don’t know if it’s something I could even make use of. C’est la vie.
I’d use them to help me see the parts of the world I can’t see with my five senses. I’d use them to navigate because racecar. Lastly, I will use them to see better since I use prescription lenses. #ifihadglass
#ifihadglass … well, it would have to be compatible with my prescription glasses, so I doubt I’ll get to be an early adopter. If I had Glass what would I do with it? To be honest, I have no idea. I think it’s a game-changer. I think it offers huge potential. But until I actually have my grubby little hands on it it on my head, I have no idea what I’d do with it.Except be more me. Which may or may not be a good thing!
#ifihadglass I would work invest in lasik eye surgery. But I would take off of both ends by producing hardware addons too, including patented prescription insets that are much better than http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/M40_Field_Protective_Mask prescription insets – “Glasses, zoom in” :) – or better “Glasses, show me heat signatures” (integrate with feeds from Tapestry’s Blue Force Tracker, Movement Tracking System, etc … not going to go much further into this one, but I am sure you get the picture).
#ifihadglass I will forget about getting Lasik in my eyes, not use anymore glasses and I will use the Glass with prescription for the rest of my life. No more headaches…
#ifihadglass i would test it to the limit, meaning i would take it with me everywhere i go. chicago, atlanta, new york, baltimore, israel, france, and everywhere i travel. i would post pics on facebook with it, use social media, share with my family and friends all the hikes i would go on, record a video while i bungie jump or learn how to surf. i would no longer have to hold a bulky camera in my hands or take a photo with my phone, even adding sun glasses will help me take picture without the sun in my eyes! or add prescription glasses for those who need it. i would go to raves with it and see how clear the pictures can be, even take videos to see the quality and sound. i probably would never take it off my head. this is the tech i have been waiting for!
#ifihadglass I’d screenshot my life – prescription would be great so I could drive with it, ja? I can’t afford the $1500 or pick-up experience so here’s hoping I’ll be selected on the basis of having one before my Google/Microsoft friends :D, inshaAllah (God willing).
I just had LASIK surgery to rid myself of the annoyance of wearing prescription glasses. But #ifihadglass it would be like seeing perfectly all over again! From travels across Korea to Cape Town, to daily playtime with my pup, I’ve got a whole new world to explore and share.
#ifihadglass I would force any hipster I come across to wear my pair. That way, they wouldn’t have to be so silly wearing non-functional, non-prescription glasses. Then their glasses would at least be useful instead of fake.
#ifihadglass I would hope to combine with current eye wear prescription and utilize to enhance client conversations with real time data statistics.
#ifihadglass I will be attending the Illinois College of Optometry. With Google Glass, I would be able to do research on how to make prescription lenses for the device. You would also be able to get feedback from an Optometrist’s perspective and maybe incorporate Google Glass as an optometric tool.
#ifihadglass I would build a medical app for doctors to wear during diagnosis . it would have a diagnose assistant, image save, write prescriptions, pull existing med records, images, X-rays ,MRI and save as EMR
#ifihadglass I wouldn’t be able to wear them because I already wear prescription glasses.
The one thing i will do #ifihadglass is incorporate its use in my work. I am a pharmacist, and I can Imagine a future were medication errors will be further reduce by this technology. Only imagine if by looking at a medication’s bottle bar-code or just the bottle itself I can bring up the medication information on the spot and at the same time compare it to the prescription being filled. This is doable and will be effective.
#IfIHadGlass I would test how well it works with prescription lenses, because not everyone wears contacts.
So here’s a question. How is +Project Glass going to work for people who already wear glasses for vision correction? I’m hoping that it’s going to be available with prescription lenses, but then I wonder how you manage making the display visible / focused whilst also correcting vision?Any one who wears glasses out there already tired them and have an answer for me? #ifihadglass I guess I would know! :)
#ifihadglass I would probably hock it and spend the proceeds to get to SVP in 2013. (My glasses are prescription and I don’t do contacts.)
If they worked with prescription lenses, Google glass would be interesting to use with my Life in China blog from Shanghai, but I wonder if they would work from behind the Great Firewall? #ifihadglass
#ifihadglass I would throw my prescription glasses in the trash. Who needs 20/20 vision when Google is on your eyes making you feel like a Adam Jensen.
#IfIHadGlass I would share my commentary of political events and news with the world. I would need prescription lenses though!
#ifihadglass – If I had a pair of Google Glasses, made with my prescription as sun-glasses, I’d ride my 2006 Triumph Speedmaster this summer, with my girlfriend sitting behind me, videoing the trip, and providing live updates on Facebook, email, ect as we make our way through the Rocky Mountains.
Ahh #ifihadglass I would use it for photography and videos every time I traveled and would wear it everyday! I already have prescription glasses anyway!Ineligible since I’m in Australia, so #wishihadglass ? :)
#ifihadglass i would wear them everywhere and film everything i see whether i am bushwalking, going to uni or just walking around the city and chinatown. I would if these will be designed for prescription lenses…
#ifihadglassI’m excited about the possibilities in healthcare and law enforcement: I imagine never having to write a note or report as I could record and stream my interventions straight to the hospital computer. In terms of law enforcement let’s get an accurate record of what happened, who said what, which way to run, did Mr policeman beat him up or not? Most importantly though, glass needs to be compatible with prescription lenses and be able to react to brightness
#ifihadglass I would hope that there would be an application of it that worked well with my prescription glasses.
+Project Glass +ProjectGlass #ifihadglassIf I had Project Glass Glasses?1. Make Interface for hands free presentations, which will be used at schools during space elevator building presentations for +LiftPort Group .2. Make & Use Keypad input for secure data input3. Fit prescription lenses; test how transition lenses.
#ifihadglass I am an optician and inventor and currently hold 2 patents in the optical field. US5488439 and US5387950 which is a one piece shield that I adapted for prescriptions, and sold to Oakley. I have also written a children’s book.I would like to adapt Google Glass for prescription glasses.
