Google is selling Google Glasses for $1500 to creative individuals resident in the USA
What google is saying:
Last year we showed Glass to the world for the first time – we jumped out of airships, crashed New York Fashion Week and even took a ride on the subway. It’s been an exhilarating journey so far and there’s a lot more to come, but we can’t go it alone. We’re developing new technology that is designed to be unobtrusive and liberating, and so far we’ve only scratched the surface of the true potential of Glass.
Now we want you to get involved and that’s why today we’re expanding our Glass Explorer Program. We’re looking for bold, creative individuals who want to join us and be a part of shaping the future of Glass. Glass is still in the early stages, so we expect there will be some twists and turns along the way. While we can’t promise everything will be perfect, we can promise it will be exciting.
We’d love to make everyone a Glass Explorer, but we’re starting a bit smaller. So, if you want to be one of the first Explorers, go to www.google.com/glass/start/how-to-get-one to find out how.

On 2/20 Glass team announced the #ifihadglass contest. Deadline for the contest was on 2/27. I/O registration opens on 3/13. What’s missing in between? 3/6! Something coming up from the Glass team in a few hours?
This is the speculation category, right?
“When we started Google 15 years ago,” Brin says, “my vision was that information would come to you as you need it. You wouldn’t have to search query at all.”
Oh… I get it now, what you meant by that Brin. #ifihadglass

We can’t have a Ubiquitous Computing Community without a link to +Project Glass!!!
How many people joined the #ifihadglass campaign?
Really bummed I missed the #ifihadglass deadline…. I would love to be part of creating such amazing technology!
What a week! We’ve been reading and loving your #ifihadglass applications: the good, the great and the… um, interesting. Thank you for all that you’ve shared with us.
Looking forward to the weekend — we can’t wait to see what you come up with next.
#ifihadglass, um-DUH, I would create DarkNet style avatars of course!
When a designer of computer games dies, he leaves behind a program that unravels the Internet’s interconnected world. It corrupts, kills, and runs independent of human control. It’s…
#ifihadglass I would create a new platform for visual SEO and Incorporate the integral vibrating element, facial recognition software, image-to-term, product recognition, and similar image searches to increase high street presence in an innovative way.
Google friends: If there’s an internal list where you suggest people who ought to have early access to Glass hardware, you should put Tim on it. I believe citizen journalism is exactly the kind of activity for which Glass could make a huge difference.
#ifihadglass I would create a simple box that businesses can install outside of their business, so customers can look at with their Google Glass and immediately get information about the business, customer reviews and their recent sales and featured products. Customers would also be able to save any business they like to Google Cloud and view it later or engage in social media by posting it on their Google+ stream. The box would be accessible 24 hours a day and 7 days a week for all the foot traffic that passes by and the Google Glass Box can be updated via an integrated Google+ business page or a Google Glass Box App. The box will not require electricity or wires, it would work via solar power!
#ifihadglass I would make games specially tailored to its input and display methods.
#ifihadglass I would finally have the sunglasses I always wanted (use the camera to find bright light sources, then render that to the screen, blacking out the offending hotspots ah la “Dynamic Eye LCD sunglasses”).
And of course, #ifihadglass I would break the family tradition of being a last-adopter. It took almost to the blu-ray era before we got DVD. I didn’t get a color laser printer until 3D printers were almost hitting the consumer market. I didn’t have a webcam until my second laptop. I still don’t own a smart phone (I love my Samsung U550)…
#ifihadglass I would transform my TV interface free (no more remote control) and would use Glass to plan recordings, view upcoming shows and browser content. While my TV would do only one thing: play videos +ProjectGlass
Browse local missions on your app and pick the ones you’d like to accept. Each mission gives you points to redeem cash, gift cards, and other prizes. Getting paid to review businesses you already go t…
#ifihadglass I would make an app for it to create an augmented internet where locations are linked with websites, web apps, 3D-models, notes, profiles etc.
1) Instead of searching for a place and the results are being displayed as a list, one can search and each result is displayed in the direction one would need to go to get there. E.g. when searching for the north pole, the search result will appear when you look north.
2) Look towards a vending machine that’s 100 meters away and what’s available pops up as a list.
3) Look at a store in the street, and a search field pops up to search for available products.
4) Look at a building and a search field pops up to search for a person living there, or services available in it.
5) Look towards specific services (reception, library, store, restaurant etc) that are within some distance threshold, and opening hours appear.
6) Look at some stairs, and see how many they are (crowdsourcing has nerds too).
7) Look at some ruins, and see how they looked like in the past.
8) Search for “lion bar” and places to buy one appears ‘all over the place’ in the direction one needs to go.
What #ifihadglass ! I would use it in Iran, where I live, and show what happens here to the whole world,to correct their totally wrong image of my country & compatriots, show them the beauties of my country, the goodness of my people, & show it when I see human rights, or human’s right is violated. I would also use it with my one eye, and tell others how it feels.
I know #ifihadglass is for US residents, but I wanted to participate despite I live outside US.
#IfIHadGlass I write books and articles. My husband passed four months ago. I would use the Google Smart Glasses to achieve video taping, writing and speaking. I’m an active 78-year-old. I should be allowed to use the glasses the same as a 20-year-old.
Remember being a kid? Save for a few snapshots, I don’t. I’m not sure why. But I want different for my kids. That’s why #ifihadglass I’d capture moments that will help them remember with a smile. Their childhood as seen from the best seat in the house — Dad’s eyes.
#ifihadglass, I’d superimpose vector drawings of buildings and roads onto vacant lots so #architects could show neighbors, city council and building departments what they were getting during the development stage.
#ifihadglass I would incorporate the use of the glasses into my upcoming motor-journalism website. With the freedom of taping video without the use of hands will allow me a new level of information making a totally new form of website.
And #ifihadglass I would experiment with a new form of online note-taking for my communicationsclasses at university: Preprepared notes with taglines waiting to be included into the lecture itself.
#ifihadglass I would never not be using it. The technology and the mindset are the future, and new opportunites never cease to arrive. Glass helps us to be prepared for just this future.
#ifihadglass I would be as excited as a kid on christmas everyday, just waiting to see the opportunities out there.
If I had glass I would create a management system for low level employees like cleaners whereby, for example, the image through glass of the bathroom they just cleaned would be compared against an image on file. If it was not clean enough glass would tell them that they had to clean it again. If the got it wrong too many times, it could fire them.
It would also track their movements, so that if they got slack on the job it would report it to me. Ultimately, I would have a programme that utterly examined every aspect of my employees work so that I could maximise their productive time.
#ifihadglass Id design applications for the blind and deaf. 1st it needs audio output for the blind. lets say software ‘sees’ thru the cam and gives a blind person cues as to thier environment. for the deaf a speech to text app would be handy. I dont need the glasses i just want ppl to realize what potential this tool has for vision and audio impared folks
#ifIhadGlass I could see augmented social information on various locations as you walk through, get personalized social recomendations, which improve navigation and experiences.
#ifIhadGlass I could see what I have overlooked before, never forget names of people from last party again, I could see my friends around in real time …
#ifIhadGlass I could share and save the view of places I’ve been to, take additional pictures to Street View, I could help to map the entire world (also in timelapse).
#ifIhadGlass the world around me looks different. It’s much more personalized, geolocated, object and picture tracked and I could view my personalized content.
#ifIhadGlass I could see much more around me, spare the time more effectively with family, share the immediate view, life challanges, experiences and also see my past life in different perspective, analyze POV, colors, habits, time share and daily time schedule. Extended Point Of View.
#ifihadglass Trouble shooting would be advantageous with more than one pair of eyes searching for the solution. #ifihadglass I can brewing beer when the master brewer is out sick and being able show him his apprentice can handle it. #ifihadglass sharing my adventures out at sea from beautiful weather to complete mayhem in an instant would be amazing.
#ifihadglass – I see it as THE rainbow connection. I’d retrofit for children, visit 3 Montessori schools, in IN (Fall Creek), TN (Abintra), and LA (Wildflower/Ruston). I’d publish on how children see the world through their recordings, pictures and requests. Together, we’d answer what’s on the other side of the rainbow.
As a case designer I would love to make KroO Cases for the google glasses #ifihadglass I love google products and have design cases for the Nexus 4 and the Nexus 7 which was the best seller during the holidays. I am filled with inspiration of how to put a female spin on a geeky tech product!
If I had glass, I would be checking the weather and calling my mom while skateboarding, and I would record awful concerts and send them to my friends.
#ifihadglass The world will finally know the answer to “What are you looking at ref?” I could create revolutionizing official’s training materials that provide a first person view to analyze. Good officiating relies on proper angles. With Google Glass, I could finally see what angle my officials are taking.
The best technology always amplifies the human experience. #ifihadglass I would share new perspectives. 24hrs as a homeless man in Atlanta/commuting downtown in a wheelchair/locals only tour of ATL from midnight2dawn. In the right hands Glass can empower us to teach each other what it means to be human. #ifihadglass
Anne Wojcicki, biologist and wife of #Google co-founder Sergey Brin was caught on TMZ wearing the Google glass.. the funny part, TMZ had no clue who she was.. In fact in the middle of the conversation she took a picture and send it to Sergery… by the way she is super cute!! Damn you +Sergey Brin you get all the good things in life! lol…
#ifihadglass I would wear them all day long at my espresso stand and stream it live to my hangout. Friends and family would get a first person perspective of the daily life of a Barista and the stories told by everyday strangers. That is what I would do #ifihadglass.
#ifihadglass …in dental-medical industry, would integrated as distance or cyber learning tool, i.e. guided live feedback during patient procedure; or would use it to view patient information at-a-glance any time during an appointment; + many other uses for input if cam-capable… #ifihadglass
#ifihadglass oh all the searches I would do and chats I would have. With Glass by my side, all the moments are mine. All the people I’ll meet and decisions I’ll make. All the things I’ll accomplish with my hands free to navigate through life
Although applications are closed #ifihadglass I would capture every second of live. Think about it. In our lives we have so many precious moments, some we’d like to harness forever and share. The thing that makes it so amazing is that with glass it is like nothing is there so the moments are realistic as ever. I would record my life and all the good moments to relive them and as I get older I’ll have them there to look back upon and say “haha I remember that.”. Really I’d love to have a pair and hopefully when they are realized since I am saving up for a pair that I’m able to purchase them despite the costly to me price of 1500.00
